Finding My Way Back to Myself
Eventually, my journey led me toward deeper grief work, learning to feel extremely painful emotions I had spent years trying to escape, and exploring psychedelic-assisted healing.
My experiences included Psilocybin, MDMA-assisted therapy, IV Ketamine, and Iboga.
These experiences changed me profoundly.
They brought me face-to-face with parts of my history and inner world I had struggled to access. They helped me see patterns, emotions, and experiences in ways I hadn't been able to before.
But one of the most important things I learned was this:
Psychedelics were never the entire solution. They opened doors. The real work was learning how to walk through them.
How to integrate what I had experienced.
How to sit with grief instead of running from it.
How to recognise the survival patterns that had once protected me but were no longer serving me.
How to reconnect with my body, develop greater compassion for myself, and gradually build a different relationship with life.
There was no single method. No linear path. And certainly no quick fix.
Healing asked me to question so much of what I had believed about myself, my relationships, and the world.
It also taught me that understanding our trauma intellectually and actually feeling differently in our bodies can be two very different things.
And perhaps one of my deepest realisations was understanding just how much it matters to be truly seen, heard, accepted, and understood — without judgment, pressure, or someone trying to fix you.
Why I Do This Work Today
That understanding is at the heart of why I do this work.
My personal journey eventually became part of a much deeper calling to support others.
Today, I bring together my lived experience, professional training, and years of personal healing to support individuals and couples navigating CPTSD /trauma recovery, emotional overwhelm, self-abandonment, difficult relationships, and patterns that keep them feeling stuck in their lives.
I also support people preparing for and integrating psychedelic experiences, particularly when those experiences bring up difficult emotions, unresolved trauma, or profound questions about themselves and their lives.
My approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, honesty, and a deep respect for each person's individual journey and autonomy.
I don't believe healing means following one method, reaching a particular milestone, or fitting into someone else's idea of what recovery should look like.
And I don't believe people need someone to tell them who they should become.
I believe they deserve support in understanding themselves, reconnecting with their own needs and feelings, and discovering what healing means for them.
Because I know what it is like to feel lost in the process of healing.
I know how lonely it can be.
And I know how much it can mean to have someone beside you who listens, understands, and doesn't try to rush you through it.
With or without psychedelics, healing is possible. 🤍
Where I am now
My recovery is still ongoing, but over time, I've found my way out of what once felt like my own personal hell.
Today, I live from a much more peaceful, grounded, connected, and authentic place. I've learned to set boundaries, trust my intuition, honour my needs, and build a life that feels increasingly aligned with who I truly am (still in the making and not perfect).
I've also developed a profound spiritual connection within myself and a sense of connection to something greater than me. I feel guided, supported, and more deeply connected to life.
Perhaps most importantly, I've gradually learned to reconnect with my authentic self — the parts of me that were always there, underneath the fear, the conditioning, and everything I had learned to become in order to survive.
I'm still learning, still growing, and still healing. But I'm no longer living the life I once thought I could never escape.
And that, to me, is what healing makes possible.
Hi, I'm Shalini! 🤍
I'm a Trauma Recovery & Psychedelic Integration Coach, a CPTSD survivor, advocate and someone who knows firsthand how painful, confusing, and transformative the journey of healing can be.
But long before I became a coach, my life looked very different.
The Life I Built - And What Was Happening Beneath the Surface
Before stepping into this work, I spent years building a career in creative direction, modeling and sales.
From the outside, I appeared confident, independent, successful, and capable. I was social, ambitious, and always moving forward.
But underneath, there was a very different reality.
For much of my life, I had learned to survive by achieving, performing, pushing myself, and seeking love and validation through what I could accomplish.
I was incredibly good at functioning. At keeping going. At appearing okay.
What I didn't understand at the time was how deeply my experiences and trauma had shaped the way I related to myself, other people, and the world.
I struggled with Complex PTSD, although for a long time I didn't fully understand what that meant. I lived with a constant sense of unsafety, disconnected from myself and caught in patterns I couldn't seem to change. I was constantly “on” - buzzing with severe anxiety, insecurity, self-doubt, terror and fear. I could never rest and just assumed this was normal.
And because I appeared so capable on the outside, much of what I was experiencing remained invisible.
I also constantly found myself in abusive relationships, toxic work environments and endlessly repeated my childhood beliefs and patterns. I was stuck in a pattern loop I could not seem to break.
When Everything Changed
When I was first diagnosed with Complex PTSD, I struggled to fully accept what it meant.
Slowing down wasn't part of my plan. Neither was healing.
Until life gave me no other choice.
A severe health crisis and near-death experience forced me to confront what I had spent years trying to outrun.
What followed were years of grief, painful realisations, identity shifts, and coming to understand just how deeply trauma, abuse, early childhood experiences and the ways I had learned to survive had shaped my life.
I immersed myself in healing.
I explored trauma-informed therapy, IFS, EMDR, somatic work, nervous system regulation, bodywork, movement, group work, ACA, and many other approaches.
Each taught me something valuable. Each helped me understand another part of myself.
And yet, despite years of inner work, something fundamental remained unchanged.
I still didn't feel safe.
Not in my body. Not in the world.
My nervous system remained in a state of chronic hypervigilance. Although I understood my trauma deeply, I often still felt unable to move beyond the survival patterns that had shaped my life.
I also became painfully aware of how often complex trauma is misunderstood, and how lonely recovery can feel when your internal experience is invisible to the outside world. I also realised how few people, even in the mental health field are truly trauma-informed and have done their own deeper healing work.
